Janazart; The Artwork of Jana Furzer

Imaginary Realism & Nature in Acrylics

(I hate Artist's Statements- so here it is in a nutshell)

I'm most inspired on crisp blue California days and soft foggy mornings.

The vast blue of the sky against the roughness of a granite boulder in Joshua

and amazing landscapes like Big Sur, Yosemite and Zion

make me remember that God, is the greatest artist of all.

You can never practice enough or improve enough.

A little music helps the paint.

(Also funny Pajamas with early morning coffee)

If its rusted-it's cool.

My family is my best artwork.

Some of my greatest blessings call me Mom.

Jeans and tennis shoes are my uniform of choice.

There will always be someone better, and someone worse. Be yourself.

A little bit of dirt or work never hurt anyone.

and I'm not (definitely not) done yet.

Resume - Bio

I was raised in Southern California and currently reside here with my husband of 26 years and my two college kids, a cat, a dog (who thinks she's a child) and a vintage trailer to run away from it all. Starting my freelance artwork while still in High School, I continued through my college years doing murals, signage and graphics.

After graduating from Riverside City College with an AAS in Graphic Design, I went on to finish a BFA with a minor in Color Theory & Design while on scholarship at Laguna Beach School of Art in Southern California.

For 32 years, I ran a decorative art company. Studio Works produced murals, custom stenciling, graphics and faux finishing for the residential and commercial design fields. My work has been commissioned to decorate restaurants, model homes, residences, businesses and corporate offices from California to Florida.

In 2000, I hung up my ladders and returned to my personal paintings and sculpture in my home studio. In the last 12 years I have sold to collectors in England, Ireland, Australia, Japan, Canada, Russia, Australia, Hawaii and across the  Continental US.

I have taught both children and adults through workshops and art classes since 2004 and am a Grumbacher Certified Instructor. I now concentrate on my personal works in acrylics and sculpture in both wood and tile mosaic.
